Eyecare Services

Eyecare Image

At Eye Four Eye, Melanie is committed to providing advanced vision care in a professional and comfortable environment.

Our primary eye care service includes a complete eye exam that analyses eye health and vision function. In addition to eye exams and vision testing, Melanie is equipped with highly advanced medical machinery including Optical Coherence Tomography scanners, Medmont Visual Field analyser, MYAH Corneal Topographer, Digital Retina and anterior eye Photography and Tonometry (Eye Pressure) enhancing our ability to test for eye diseases including glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration.

Our practice also offers glasses, contact lenses, pre- and post-operative care, sunglasses and accessories.

Eye Exams

At Eye Four Eye we believe that eye exams should be taken every 12 months for adults, with an increased frequency for patients with family history and patients over 65 years of age.

Furthermore, we believe that children should be tested prior to starting school with yearly reviews to correlate eye health to development and learning.

Patients will receive a patient history review, a series of vision and eye tests, assessments of eye focusing and movement, and an eye health evaluation.

Our optometrist will discuss any additional testing that may be required to diagnose an eye disease or condition. Call us a today at 02 9977 3703 to schedule an appointment.

Neuro-Optometric Assessment

Post Traumatic Brain injury (TBI & MTBI), Post Concussion Syndrome, Post Concussion Vision Syndrome, Acquired Brain Injury, Dyslexia and Dysgraphia (related to visual problems), Learning Disabilities, Stroke, Vestibular Neuritis/Labyrinthitis, Double Vision, Convergence Insufficiency, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD),  Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Strabismus, Amblyopia, Headaches/Migraines, Meniere’s Disease.

Vision Therapy

Vision therapy is designed to teach the patient how the brain controls the eyes, to improve their visual skills and how to apply these new skills to improve reading, learning, concentration and attention.

Vision therapy is a fully customised and personalised treatment program designed to improve and strengthen visual skills, and re-train the visual system to interpret visual input with increased accuracy and ease.

Vision therapy is more than just simple eye exercises — it improves brain-eye communication and the effective operating of the child’s visual system.

Contact Lenses

Not sure that glasses are for you? Ask us about contact lenses.

Advances in the field of optometry have produced a variety of different types of contact lenses with a range of benefits. Rigid gas-permeable (RGP), daily-wear soft, extended-wear, extended-wear disposable, and planned replacement are the various types of contact lens options available today.

There are many advantages to consider when determining if contact lenses are right for you and our knowledgeable staff is here to answer any questions.

Optical Coherence Tomography - Zeiss

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye.

With OCT, each of the retina’s distinctive layers can be seen, allowing your Optometrist to map and measure their thickness. These measurements help with early detection, diagnosis and treatment guidance for retinal diseases and conditions, including age-related macular degeneration and, diabetic eye disease, among others.

Digital Retinal Photography

Retinal imaging is a diagnostic test that creates high-quality digital images of the inner, back surface of your eye. It allows the diagnosis of many eye conditions like diabetes-related retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration. We will tell you how often you need retinal imaging.

MYAH Corneal Topography

MYAH allows us to monitor the progression of myopia and compare our patient’s data with the normative growth curves, helping us to offer an even more individualised treatment and service to our patients.

Myah also offers our patients:

-Corneal Topography including keratoconus screening and pupillometry.
-A comprehensive suite of Dry Eye assessment tools.
-support for contact lens fitting; the gold standard in the fitting and monitoring of rigid gas permeable and orthokeratology lenses

Visual Field testing

Computerised perimetry or Visual Field testing is an important diagnostic and monitoring tool for many ocular and neurological conditions. This machine maps central and peripheral vision and can show the amount of vision loss and the affected areas (blind spots). It is often needed to complete yearly driving forms by the RMS.

It is also especially helpful in the diagnoses' and monitoring of Glaucoma, Diabetes, Neurological Diseases, Retinitis Pigmentosa, Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and Brain Tumors.

Myopia Control

Myopia control is a group of methods optometrists can use to try and slow the progression of childhood myopia. There is no cure for myopia, but there are ways to help control how rapidly it develops or progresses.

Ortho-K

Orthokeratology, or ortho-k, is the use of specially designed and fitted contact lenses to temporarily reshape the cornea to improve vision. Ortho-k is mainly used to correct near-sightedness (myopia). Orthokeratology is a surgery-free way for some people to leave their glasses behind and not have to wear contact lenses all the time.

Lasik Referrals

Laser assisted in situ keratomileusis, commonly referred to as LASIK, is a corrective alternative to glasses or contact lenses. Like glasses or contact lenses, LASIK is a method for treating refractive conditions including nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. At Eye Four Eye Melanie provides pre- and post-operative exams for LASIK and other eye procedures.
