  • Meet Manly Optometrist
    Melanie J Woodhouse

    Ms Woodhouse is an Optometrist in Manly providing complete eye care services for the surrounding communities. She graduated from the School of Optometry and Vision Science at The University of New South Wales. Melanie is also therapeutically endorsed having completed the Ocular Therapeutics course at UNSW in 2016 and has been a member of NORA since 2010.

    As a licensed optometrist, Melanie provides exams, diagnoses, and treatments of all disorders that affect the eye or vision. In addition to training in eye diseases and disorders, Melanie is also trained in anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology. With this background, she is trained to recognise a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and hypertension. 

    She has a particular interest in neuro-optometry, rehabilitation and learning  in children and adults who have undergone traumatic brain injuries/ stroke. Melanie is a Fellow of ACBO (The Australian College of Behavioural Optometry). She regularly undertakes education and attends workshops related to developmental problems and neuro-rehabilitation in Australia and overseas.

    Melanie works hard to stay current on the latest advances in eye health and vision care and regularly attends continuing education seminars and advanced training courses. It is because of Melanie's dedication to continuing education that our Manly patients receive the most modern and progressive vision care available.

    In her spare time Melanie likes spending time with her family on long walks in the bush and around Manly and surrounding areas. She has a special interest in the arts, wine and enjoys native flora and fauna.
